Went to my first NHL game since the Whalers left this weekend, and I was pretty impressed. I’m not really a hockey fan, but I’m starting to get into it. My roommate told me it’s not a TV sport but one you need to be there in person for. He was right. We sat second row and it was just intense. Every time they came our way (in the defender zone) it was all action.
I don’t plan on going to any more NHL games because the Rangers, Islanders, and Bruins are too far to justify it. But there’s two AHL teams in state so I’m going to try and go to some of those games this year.
I will say though, the NHL got it right with their cheerleaders. They just don’t sit on the sidelines, they put them girls to work! Whenever there was stoppage of play, those girls were out on the ice sweeping up. I was very impressed that the NHL made these girls earn their paychecks.
